What is age-related macular degeneration?
Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is the leading cause of blindness in adults over 65. Around 90% of those patients have dry AMD for which until now there has been no treatment.
We offer the first approved treatment for this condition which may slow down progress and even improve vision.
This office based treatment is safe and non-invasive and we are the first to offer it in the North West of England.
Valeda ™ Light Delivery System
The Valeda ™ Light Delivery System (LDS) was developed by LumiThera. The system is the first approved treatment for dry age-related macular degeneration (AMD) using photobiomodulation (PBM). PBM has been around for a long time and used for number of different conditions including muscle repair; wound healing; improve muscle performance and many other applications. PMB uses light to stimulate cells. This stimulates energy production within cells improving their function.
